Our Accommodation
Lotus Caravan (The Glampavan)
We stayed at a powered site @ Boothill Compound (found on youcamps, however, has since been taken down, yet still available > Contact us if you require further information). Basic facilities but perfect location on the river.
$25 per adult per night.
If you are looking for something more then there are loads of free camps, cabins and lodges to meet all needs.
Hot tip: Boot Hill (Upper Allyn) is NOT Boothill Compound (Main Creek) approx. 45min drive apart. Trust me, we learnt the hard way Check out the video above ☺
Dungog
Dungog is a country town on the Williams River in the Hunter Region of NSW, approximately 2 hours drive from Newcastle.
Chichester State Forest – Allyn River is located at the foothill of Barrington Tops. There is plenty to explore both on road and off road. The Allyn River is a popular place for camping, four wheel driving, swimming and bushwalking. There are numerous locations you can access the pristine water and explore the surrounding sub tropical rainforest.
Ladies Well
We visited Ladies Well, Chichester Dam and Boot Hill. We will definitely be returning to Ladies Well – best parts are swimmings holes, gorgeous waterfalls and tranquil rainforest. For the more adventurous there is a tree swing into the swimming hole. For those wanting to stay, there is also a free campground at Ladies Well
Hot Tip: Can be a popular destination in the warmer months, best to get there early
Chichester Dam
If you haven’t done this before, you absolutely need to. Ideal for a day trip, with a great picnic area down the bottom. Adequate facilities with a few walking tracks, a nice walk from Ferndale as well, which we have also stayed previously and highly recommend

Boot Hill
If you’re after a quirky or unique day out, it’s worth taking a drive to Upper Allyn north of Eccleston to have a look or leave a footprint 👣 of your own.
“Boot Hill” has a collection of shoes hung along a fence of a farming property. We would guess there must be thousands of shoes.
The drive there in itself is just amazing 🚘

Bang For Buck
where we stayed was probably a little overpriced

How We Became THE GLAMPAVanS
So who are the Glampavans? We have been married for 19 years, we have adult children whom are self sufficient, and are the proud owners of a French bulldog named Baxter. We live a very busy life like most trying to juggle full time work and a social life. We love spending time with family and friends, we have a passion for food, travel, the great outdoors and are always up for a challenge. When we hit our 40’s our perception of life changed. We no longer wanted to be a slave to our work and mortgage, we wanted to live our best life, together, sooner rather than later. We purchased a caravan and started to explore a little of this country and realised there was so much more we wanted to see. We plan to hit the road in September 2021 with our fur baby for a minimum of 12 months, however, between now and then we have planned to take some shorter adventures that we will share along the way. We will free camp when we can and also support local parks and businesses along the way
